The Variations Of Night Vision Cameras

There are three main types of night vision. image intensification, active illumination and thermal vision. Most consumer level cameras use IR night vision (Infrared night vision) which is a form of thermal vision and provides adequate light detection at all times of day. There are many other aspects of IR vision to consider such as the variable wave-lengths and actual visibility ranges. These will all need to be taken into consideration when assessing the required task.

For surveillance to provide the best security it needs to be active 24 hours a day 7 days a week. For half that time its dark so it is essential for the best surveillance cameras to have fitted night vision functions. Most modern cameras do have this added function, but it’s important to make sure when selecting cameras to check for the added night vision feature. It is simply not feasible, for today’s security to not have night vision cameras, specifically because it’s common knowledge that most criminal activity is carried out at night time
