Using Motion Activated Cameras To Cut Down On Recording Sizes

A 24/7 recorded feed is great for the fact that you can be sure everything the camera sees is stored. However It can be an issue when sifting through footage to find the specific time the camera actually saw something you should be aware of.

A solution to this is to use motion activated cameras. As the name suggests, these cameras will only start recording when it picks up movement within its visual range.

The advantage to movement activated cameras is that they are usually independent units. So they do not need to be connected to a computer or a power supply. Simply put the camera in a spot you consider a prime place for spotting intruders, and come back to the camera after you suspect it may have picked something up.

The downside to motion cameras is that they are not connected to a direct-feed, meaning they cant be viewed through on demand. This can be an issue for security systems that require real-time surveillance.
